I don't want him. Prefer both HH and Bothroyd on current form.
The whole Andy Carrol is a great player is the biggest myth in football. This is the same player that only got 17 goals playing for Newcastle in the CCC when they ran away with the league. I think Kevin Nolan scored more in that team from midfield...... Average at best.
The next season in the prem he scores a few goals before Christmas, namely a hattrick against an incredibly inept Villa team that lost 6-0 and he's suddenly touted as a great prospect and could be England's "number 9" for years to come..... No thanks.
He is just playing as averagely as he ever has. He is not a great player by any stretch, just a decent one who can put himself about and cause problems. His first touch is shocking and 2nd touch normall a tackle as a result.
The fact Kenny saw fit to waste £35m on him will always baffle me and until that point i thought he was a shrewd manager, but blimey, think what else they could've done with that money.Comment

I rate him. Very good player who's not getting the rub of the green at Liverpool. The lad had only just started to find his feet, but I've no doubt that with a good run, he'll come good.Your mum would love me...Comment

He had an acceptable scoring record in the Championship but wasn't outstanding, good run of form in his first half of the season in the Prem, got called up for England, got a big transfer, huge salary and then didn't prodiuce the goods or the goals.
Yes, I'm talking about Michael Ricketts.
Carroll is an example of a big gamble that didn;t pay off. Read in the Observer that after his spree for Newcastle in the first half of last season and his value rocketed Harry Redknapp called in his scouts in and gave them a roasting how such a player could slip under the radar when he was on the search for a target man: 'What do I f@ckin' pay you for if you don't watch players?' etc. You can imagine the scene: all purple faced, snarly and twitchy.
The Cheif Scout replied - with his head still ringing - that they'd watched him over a dozen times in the championship, doing all their usual stats and evaluation, and he'd been average at best.
Add to that the boozing, the assualt charge, the nightclubs, the massive salary and you wonder what you are bringing into the dressing room. Difference with barton is he's knuckled down, atoned for his past and is all about the football now.Last edited by Westbyfleetr; 21-11-2011, 03:28 PM.Comment

Not having that. He's one of the best headers of the ball around.
As Benny said not getting the rub of the green but with a different club, surroundings, manager etc he would be a massive asset to most teams.Comment
