The one from my local station is £4.50 return. But I do only live 10 miles from Anfield

Had to sort out some business travel today so had a look at trains for Dec 10...
Cheapest available on Virgin for direct connection is currently £35 each way (assuming you don't want to set off ridiculously early or get home on Sunday morning)..

Alterrnative and cheaper route would be Euston to Birminghamm (Virgin) £10.50; Birmingham to Liverpool (London Midland) £9 with return leg costing £9 + £7.50.

As well as being half the price, going via Birmingham would mean you could get off at Liverpool South Parkway and connect straight onto the Merseyrail Northern Line to Sandhills (nearest station to Anfield) and jump the local Soccerbus shuttle from Station to ground.

the cheapest trains are on London Midland trains that run from Euston via Watford Junction, though you do have to change and they take longer
