Football will definitely have to look at itself and its pricing for games as the recession hits harder, i mean your seeing empty seats all round the prem now, even the big four don't always sell out now, when would you have ever seen a empty seat at Old Trafford or the Emirates, you do now.

It's a shame we can't adopt the German model.....but unles all the big countries get togethor and do something collectively it would mean losing competitive edge in Europe.

Times are very tough.
We have two young kids, my boy’s 6 on Thursday, and my little girl was 3 a few months ago. When my boy was younger due to grandparents help the wife could still work more and bring in a decent contribution. The plan was to be similar with my daughter, but she was born 9 weeks premature and was only 2lb 5 and in special care for 6 weeks. Being more at risk of illness etc in early years we decided my wife would stay home to look after her, and she only works Saturdays for now.
So with less money coming in, much more going out, price hikes etc, not to mention we had to move to a bigger house after my daughter was born so mortgage jump also and I’m pretty much screwed…. That said it was always going to be tough for a few years, and we’d go without things until such time the wife can work longer hours when both the kids are at school. We gave up season tickets 6 yrs ago and unfortunately no way to justify one anytime soon, regardless of the fact I can’t make Saturday games anyway as the wife works and I have the kids…. For that reason i hardly ever get to games unfortunately.
It’s just great now that we are back in the prem and I can watch the live match streams. I want to try and get to a few games if poss this season, and for 6 years have looked forward to the day I take my boy to his first game and planned to when he’s about 7, so more confident now that I may actually be able to afford tickets, because at one point it was looking unrealistic. Hopefully he will be in for a golden era….
As for working more hours, I work stupid hours as it is with no reward for the overtime I put into the day job. But I sometimes do a bit of cabling on the side with a mate of mine when he does jobs for us, which brings in some welcomed additional funds.Last edited by Del; 20-09-2011, 12:49 PM.Comment

Mortgage, 3 kids & some debt has put pay to me going to many games for the forseeable. Good job we're on sky quite a bit and I enjoy playing still, so this makes up for it a little bit...Comment

Cost of living is killing me, especially with no wage increase in the past two years, wife only working part time and triplet daughters costing a fortune to feed and clothe.
Regretably my trips to Loftus Road will now have to take a back seat and I have forgone my season ticket regardless of what price it was / is. Need to take on another job or look for a better paid one.
Small consoloation is that QPR's games on SKY / BBC and thankful to a friend for giving me their ticket for Fulham.Don't Get Mad get Even!Comment

i didn't eat the value stuff myself though, we had a couple of students staying recently, just fed them that and with tescos ketchup, they didn't know the difference anyway lol.
