Can we please have a new official website?

The current one is absolute pants with a dreadful layout and is covered with tacky ads which have no relevance to our club. Hardly befitting of a club looking to raise its profile globally; at the moment we share a template with the likes of Barnet and Plymouth.

Both Everton and Manchester City are examples of how to do it right IMHO. Rome wasn't built in a day, but it would be nice to know there's something happening behind the scenes on this one.

QPR Player works on the Android phones but the iPhone does have an app, there should be something on the official website about it and it cost extra.

Promoted clubs are tied into the central Football League contract with Perform/PTV for the first season. After this (and pending no relegation back to the FL), they are free to negotiate new website providers or ask Perform to provide a bespoke platform as they do for Chelsea, Spurs etc.

I thought all clubs were in contract till 2017 or there abouts unless you buy out of it?

Thanks, I wasn't aware of this. What a shame. I found a decent article about it here. Newcastle's site is actually surprisingly good as well.

IIRC the FL's contract with PTV/Perform runs to 2017. Pretty sure that promoted clubs, as members of the PL, have the break option after 12 months from the standard FL "skin", to change provider (or renegotiate with Perform directly to provide a better platform!)

I know for a fact that a contract has recently been won for all the PTV sites onto a new CMS so would expect a new design as well. It will I expect be the summer before the project is turned around and I guess we will either have a new PTV one if we go down or go it alone

the fact that this contract is with a provider whose offering is shockingly **** is inexcusable. one of my junior developers could do a better site ffs.

Its not that bad - It is however pretty old fashioned now, the problem they have is making the templates work with 50+ colour schemes, and its too cluttered not to mention having 70 odd clients.

What they do need to do is plenty of usability testing and apply best practice usability principles

Going it alone will cost so much and can't really be seen as a priority I guess. Man City has probably the best site going - and I know how much that cost!

Man City's website was in excess of £2 million, but that included a complete re-brand and was obviously worked on by an ad and digital firm as well as using opta feeds to visualise all the latest live stats. Maybe 6 months of Joey's wages and we could have something half decent.
