Well hes not anywhere near the player Adel is, so he wont play, no matter how good his free kicks are.

I don't think Adel will be too upset. He threw his weight around last year because he was the best player in the league. I think he probably realises the likes of Barton and SWP have already proven themselves at this level, and is likely to be happier playing with them than captaining a side with Aygemang in it.

I think Barton is the perfect choice as captain. Adel's hardly the sort to inspire the boys when we're 2-0 down.

Derry's always been captain in everything but wearing the damn armband anyway. When was the last time anyone saw Taarabt encourage team mates or sort out marking at set pieces. He was only given the armband as an ego massage. Everyone in the team knew who the real captain was.

I back Barton for the armband but Adel is as much needed in the team as always has been!
