Seriously, as a teacher, we can identify these youngsters (a very small minority) when they start school at 4, or even nursery at 3, as they are already a problem and beyond parental control even by then -- if there's trouble near my school, I could probably give the names to the police without thinking for too long, as we have known who the anti-social youngsters are since they were little.
They are the ones who you see acting as go-betweens for drug dealers who pull up in cars at traffic lights, and who are always out on their own on the High Street -- even before this week -- and have been allowed to roam unsupervised or in the company of feral teenagers since they were 4 or 5.
Youngsters who are already off the rails before us schools get them -- their immorality is already instilled and all we can do is contain them for as long as possible, so other children can get an education.
Very sad for all of us.

Well said Swanley. These younsters are born into dysfunctional families with no discipline and little idea of the difference between right and wrong. They are "disengaged" from society and do not understand the consequences of their actions. So sad and a problem which society has no easy or quick fixes.That because nearly all of them are whiteboards now...
