Just been looking at train prices and your looking at £70 return.

Any ways of getting those cheaper people know about?

Try looking at trains to near-ish places like Runcorn, Chester, Wrexham or Wigan or Manchester or Crewe - might be a bit cheaper (but you'll have to factor in the extra time and a few quid for the onward leg to Liverpool).
