This is a sensitively written piece. I guess that living in Slovakia has made you highly sympathetic towards our Romany friends.

'Where's your caravan' sung to anyone with long hair always amuses me
just like 'sheepshagger' to anyone from west of Swindon

              especially being a pikie myself
              not a sheepshagger yet though

Yeah, lovely people those gypsies, honest, hard-working, salt-of-the-earth they are, especially those ones from Romania, we just simply don't have enough of them enriching my culture.

Meanwhile, in the real world most of the rest of us have to live in.

I guess you must be personally acquainted with far more gypsies than I am in order to be so sure about the 'realness' of the world you live in.

Being of polish descent I have met many Romany's in London and Polska. Didn't like any of them. Cultural divide is massive with them. They have some ridiculous virtues that as a born and bred Englishman I can not accept. They know they aren't liked, and they don't care. BUT, as life has lead me to learn, there are bound to be lots of Romany's that are genuine nice people. Like the ones in James Bond, with the sexy cat fight and violin playing.
