Great job papering over the cracks, sirpie.

We are not asking our very wealthy owners to beggar themselves, all we want is some decent investment to go into strengthening the first-team squad, that's all.
£15-20million wouldn't see any of them in the poor house, and could provide the springboard we need to have a great first season back in the premier league, rather than an average one just avoiding relegation by the skin of our teeth.
Nothing more, nothing less.

Having said all that, if we are to try and do it all on the very cheap, then we couldn't have a better manager in Neil Warnock, though my heart goes out to him, because if anyone deserved a decent war-chest for the forthcoming campaign, it was our Neil.

It's very easy to spend someone else's money isn't it? Why should they spend £10m-£15m? They own the club (and I'm really not defending them as I'd far rather have someone with QPR's interest running the club) but they don't have to put any more money in if they don't want to. It's their money. We the fans don't generate enough money for the club to be self-sufficient. If we did and they were pocketing the profits we would all have good reason to be up in arms. Instead we are relying on these people to keep the club afloat but then we demand them to spend even more money.

If FB and BE were to stop putting another penny into the club then what would happen. Regardless of whether they are worth £100, £100m or £100B it's their money and if they chose to spend it on their kids or on house's that their choice.

No disrespect to SP but I think Water Buffalo is spot- on. The main thing to remove my anxiety would be a Mittal takeover. I do thing the Mittals understand what is required to maintain our PL status as does NW .

If Amit got his way then people like me would be able to afford to see us play much more regularly next season. He didn't or hasn't yet. I can live with it. I'll return just like so many others out there.

However even if the Mittal's did takeover we aren't guaranteed anything. There is hope and expectation that they'd do a "Man City" but who knows.

Is exactly what it is mate. Cant help but think they wouldnt spend much more than F&B are.

Agree with most of that. Fans do indeed love spending the money of others. Fans are never happy. Villa fans now can't stand Lerner (sp?) even though he has to my eyes been about as good an owner as anyone cd possibly hope for (was extremely generous with transfer funds and let managers get on with it, hardly his fault it didn't work). Blackburn fans are now starting to suspect their new owners are not quite the saviours they were billed as. West Ham fans squealing about their owners. Etc etc.

Where I take a different view is this:

1) A football club is not just a limited company (though it is that as well) it is a community asset and owners have an obligation to fans. Its a bit like if you own a field with a public right of way - you have a duty to the public which extends to more than just your bottom line.

2) I think the frustration is as much due to the board's apparent lack of strategy as their budget. Think more realistic elements in the fan base were never expecting a massive budget and star names, but even a manager as astute as Warnock will need SOME resources to give us a fighting chance of survival. If they are not even going to put into the club the amount required to give us a realistic - ie above 50% - chance of staying up, what is their strategy? What are they in it for? And as they do not communicate with fans - another obligation I would say of a fit and proper owner - it is impossible to work out. So some fans seem to think it is all part of a cunning plan that we mere mortals can't understand, others see it as part of some conspiracy to build on Loftus Rd. The rest of us are just left confused, disillusioned and a little less in love with the club and the game than they once were.

So AT isn't still at the club? NW isn't our boss? JB didn't sign last week and we aren't playing Premiership football this season?

They are the four facts from the opening post which may of course change as I have said a number of times - I can't see how these are opinions.

They are indeed facts. I think it was the next part where you went on from there to imply that because of that the fan base should somehow be content or at least optimistic. My view - and I'm sure its a view of many - is that so much bad stuff has happened since promotion that our season back in the Prem has been soured. I know for some Prem football is everything, which is a point of view. However, I don't go along with that. I won't take any pleasure from seeing us being ripped apart next season which we will as things stand (accept there is still time for some dramatic turn of events). Indeed, if we won't be given the resources to compete in the prem I think I'd actually prefer us to remain a championship club where we can at least hold our own and avoid ritual humiliation. Just my opinion of course and I accept lots of others will see it differently.

What he is obligied to do and what he does do are two completely separate things. Sadly and clearly he doesn't care. Bhatia resigned because he believed that the Rangers fans deserved better - we do - unfortunately FB doesn't.

I know and it saddens me to see so many fellow fans upset. I'm not posting these positive threads because of naviety but because I don't want to see you and other people get so down.

Solidarity with the fans, Warnock and the players we are left, yes; solidarity with the board, no. But do agree with your inference that there is no point us just whinging about it, so for that reason I intend to remain silent for a while as its pointless for all concerned. We all have other stuff in our lives and we should just get on with that.

Fair comment, Mate, but with zero equivocation, I 'll have the Mittlals on any terms over the other two.
