Gareth McAuley is a centre back. Signed by Magilton for Ipswich when Leicester were relegated. He is Northern Irish.

He is also pretty crap I remember seeing him at Loftus Road a couple of years ago and he was one of the worst centre backs I have ever seen. He is nowhere near Gorkss, Connolly, Stewart and perhaps even Hall in terms of ability.

Maybe true but if we are looking for a defenders back who are only going to get better rather than have reached their prime then players like Cathcart or Cranie are better options - probably cheaper as well.

Yep and he started nearly every match for Ipswich so why would he leave to sign for a club which couldn't guarantee him first team football?

Basically he is a decent Championship defender who won't be sold by Ipswich but will be linked with us due to his and Magilton's nationality. There really isn't anything else you need to know.
