I think Warnock would get the best out of him but without sounding all doom and gloom, if we are in a tug of war with other prem clubs i dont fancy our chances.

      Tricky one, Bothroyd.

People always trot out the line "Proven Premier League Striker". Well Bothroyd isn't.
You could argue that DJ Campbell is. I'd like both, but....?

JB has flashes of real ability and class. But also capable of going missing and not 100% putting his body on the line.
But Bothroyd probably suits our "one up top" formation better. But even that's clouded by Taarabt staying or going.

One thing I do know (for a fact) is that Bothroyd was on less than 10k pw at Cardiff. So he's angling for a very big contract. He's 29. It's his last chance for "the big deal".
People might think he's a "free transfer". But I would also guess that his agent (Sky Andrews) is looking for a VERY hefty signing on fee. And he'll get it.
Far from a freebie, Jay Bothroyd.
Far from a "proven Prem Striker".

And one more thing as a side-issue.
I was listening to a debate on BBC yesterday about how Scottish clubs can't compete with English (or Welsh) clubs for wages. Not just Prem clubs.
Both Celtic and Rangers can only pay about 20k per week, max.
What they can offer is the stadiums, the stage, the medals, and European football - however briefly that may last.
Celtic interest in Shane Long is cooling, because of that gulf in money.

If we lose out to WBA that would be frustrating but they have a more stable base than us at the moment. But in all seriousness we cant compete with the likes of Everton or Celtic if they come in for him.

If he is looking for 1st team football, then there is a good chance of joig us. If he is only looking for money, then no chance.

It seems some people are willing to believe what they read on here when its negative (ie somebodys "ITK" wage cap) yet they refuse to believe any positive "ITK" positive news (ie signings to be announced).
