  • Bougherra wants Gers stay

Rangers defender Madjid Bougherra insists that he has no intention of leaving Ibrox this summer.

The 28-year-old former Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic star has been recently linked with a move to Swiss side Neuchatel Xamax.

The Algerian defender still has a year to run on his current deal and is willing to remain at the SPL champions for the final year of his contract.

It had been reported that new Rangers owner Craig Whyte was ready to allow Bougherra to leave the Gers after insisting Allan McGregor and Steven Davis are not for sale.

But the player told the Daily Record: "I have not negotiated with any club.

"I am on holiday with my family and there has been no offers for me.

"I will be back early next month for pre-season training with Rangers."

We'd met with him 3 times and he was very keen on joining a London Premiership team, so I recall.....allegedly.

Don't worry.......we've got Fitz 'the Crock' Hall to keep us up.

Was hoping there was some truth in him coming to us. Think he's just type of player we need.

in fairness, we never knew for certain he was a possibility so we can't be disappointed that he doesn't look like coming

Would of been a good signing. Oh well we still have 2 bounce to shut the Drogba's & Torres's out.

The PL standard is higher than the SPL. If we miss him, it is not a big deal.
