But it needs to be experience which is fit enough to be on the pitch every week. No use having crocks in the 25.

What's wrong with Kewell, he's 32? (Neil is 34).
Is he a prima donna? Not NW type?
Kewell is still netting for Australia and had a good scoring record at Gala.
According to Wiki, he's on 30K EUR per game!
Aside from the fact he is a similar type of player to Smith and Mackie, surely he is worth a look?
And he's a bit of showbiz with a WAG...possibly might appeal to Flavio.Comment

Australian football is hardly a yardstick of whether he'd still cope in the Prem -- Nick Ward was the hottest thing in Oz, but not even up to Championship standard.
It's a long time since Kewell played in the prem.
And Bullard -- great if fit, but he could become our next Cook/Rowlands/Buzz/Hall. With us being limited to 25, we can't afford to have players whose injury record suggests strongly that they might only play a quarter of the season.

I remember when a hopelessly overweight and ageing Socrates trolled up at Garforth Town and had to be carried onto the pitch with a hot-water bottle tucked up his jersey. Took one free kick and said "Thanks very much and goodnight."
I take it he's out of contract?Comment

From the Hammersmith & Fulham Chronicle:
HARRY Kewell has ruled out a return to England with QPR.
The former Liverpool winger is out of contract at Galatasary and has been linked with a move to Loftus Road.
However, the 32-year-old Aussie has told pals he wants to play his football abroad rather than in the Premier League.Comment

Thank F. Complete waster even by the standards of professional footballers. Mate of mine did some filming with him during his Leeds day. Was blowing 60 grand a week on the gee gees and didnt seem to give a monkeys about staying fit etc - and that was back when he was good. From the Hammersmith & Fulham Chronicle:
