Yes in line with the ticket prices.Obviously thinks he's ready for the Prem otherwise why is he leaving Peterborogh? We've again been linked with him but I feel we should be looking for better. Why people keep saying the likes of Crouch and Keane are beyond us is beyond me.We are now a Prem team and should be competing with other Prem teams for the signatures of Prem quality players.Comment

Think there's a misunderstanding here. Any sane fan would like Crouch etc. Think what is meant is there is no way our board will dip into their pockets to buy players like that. But for our present position think a player like the Peterborough lad is a complete waste of time.
That's exactly my point Jas.If teams even in the lower half of the prem are paying top dollar for quality players, our board, not unreasonably, should be expected to compete in the market place, considering the ST and match day ticket hikes. They want their 'kin cake and eat it.Bar stewards.Comment

Oh I agree they should. But I'm simply not taking seriously reports linking us with top players becaue I just don't believe the board will stump up the cash. Warno will be asked to perform miracles again on a shoestring then will be sacked after seven games because - shock, horror - we are third from bottom. That's exactly my point Jas.If teams even in the lower half of the prem are paying top dollar for quality players, our board, not unreasonably, should be expected to compete in the market place, considering the ST and match day ticket hikes. They want their 'kin cake and eat it.Bar stewards.Comment

We should have signed him a few years ago, he will do really well in the championship, he did well enough last season in a poor team. I don't think he is going to be good enough for the premiership though, he is as brave as anything but technically not great. given the choice of him or DJ cambell or James Beattie i would take him like a shotits New Era number 8 i tell thee, bring on the fireworksComment

Beckford was Everton's top scorer!

But that says more about how poor Everton were infront of goal as a team, than it does about Beckford.Comment

everton/Wigan also after him - therefore game over. Don't believe we've ever used our so called financial muscle to steal players wanted by other clubs.Comment
