Am struggling to believe £4.1m for someone who has never played above Championship level. Ted actually made the good point the other day that Ebanks-Blake looked electric in the Championship but hasn't really cut it in the Premiership. Big, big step up. If - and it is a big "if" - Newcastle have spent that much on him then the very best of luck to them.

Yet we feel we'll get nearer £10m for Taarabt who's already flopped in the Prem. In fairness to SEB, he's not had as much game time as I'd have expected, and although he's not been scoring too regular, he's still looked a handful. I'd still take him at Rangers.

So was Beckford. Not many gave him a hope in hell of being a success at Everton. He's looked pretty decent. I actually think Danny is a better prospect. He's made massive leaps in the last three years of his career.

I reckon the initial outlay will be around £3m, with a deal going up to £4+ depending on success. Not a huge gamble at that price if you ask me.
