  • LMA manager of the year awards

Premier League - Sir Alex Ferguson Man Utd - Champions
    Championship - Paul Lambert Norwich - Runners-Up
League 1 - Gus Poyet Brighton - Champions
League 2 - John Sheridan Chesterfield - Champions

Apart from Lambert, all led their team to the title, so is there any reason why Neil Warnock didn't win?

    That's clearly bs
    Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
    And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

To be fair two consecutive promotions is pretty good going for a young manager.
See your point though but i'd rather be champions and Warnock not to win manager of the year than the other way round!
Wasn't there also the rumour that Holloway would have got it in the premiership if Blackburn stayed up.

Warnock isn't, believe it or not, universally loved by some of his fellow LMA members. I doubt very much that he got Wally Downes or Gary Megson's vote.

I agree he isn't popular with all of them, but it just shows them up as being petty.

Year after year, they nearly all vote for whoever guides his team to the title.

Otherwise other managers would have won the awards for keping clubs up on a shoestring budget or against all odds etc. i.e The Bournemouth manager (Eddie Howe?) when he kept Bournemouth up even though they had 17 points deduction in pre-season.

Lambert won the award last season for winning League 1, so just because they got back to back promotions doesnt justify his award.

And there is no way that Holloway would have won it if he kept Blackpool up.

Can't see Warnock being magnanimous about losing out on this award. The only non-champion winner in all 4 divisions. Warnock comes across as a pretty vain individual and loves the attention. No doubt Lambert deserves this award...fantastic achievement.

Norwich spent more than we did.

And have a huge number of season ticket holders in a captive area. They have also been a PL Club more recently than us. Obviously, due to the wealth of our owners, many people believe we have spent big. Given the mess the Club was in when NW took over the achievement of becoming Champions inside 14 months is truly amazing. Everyone (including Claridge at some point) has admitted we were the best side in the division by a distance - and yet these sad little twunts don't acknowledge the achievement......................hey ho we are Champions and no one can ever take that away from Neil, the players, the Club and the fans

You've been listening to the QPR spin doctors...To get back to back promotions is no mean achievments. No problem with Lambert getting that. also no doubt Warnock did a fantastic job. Joint winners would have been appropriate.

But Holloway did keep Blackburn up!

Warnock wouldn't have won it as we have 'spent a lot of money' and have 'finances unavailable to other clubs' and in a way have 'bought the championship'

True, it is no mean achievement, but they were over two different seasons. He won his award for winning L2. Warnock was saving QPR from an alarming drop into L2 last season, and won the title this time around and as such should have been rewarded by his fellow managers instead they have devalued his work on the assumption that he has spent big money to win the title.

Dont forget that Lambert has worked with the full backing and support from his Board of Directors, something that Warnock's predecessors certainly did not have, and there was no guarantee that he wouldn't have had interference from them had QPR hit a bad patch in form.

It is a shame, but I think Lambert probably deserved it.

It's a close call between the two. I suspect that in the wake of the FA enquiry any chance that NW would win it was lost.

Think it's an utter disgrace nw didn't win the award, surely it should be based on the achievements of this year not what happened last year, lambert was given the recongition last year for winning league one, this year he came second ,so given the fact that all the other winners won their respective leagues nw should have won the award
