Langley was not all that, he thought he was better than he was, just like Bothroyd, but if we end up signing him, I hope he does really well in a QPR shirt, but IMO there are better, hungrier strikers than him available.

Not necessarily a stamp of approval!! Would you take Vassell or Ricketts?Originally posted by QPRdan3 View PostBoythroyd all day long, can't believe any of you would say no. ITS A FREE BLOODY TRANSFER FOR AN ENGLAND INTERNATIONAL
I'd take Bothroyd. Perfect replacement for Heidar in NW's current favoured formation and also good in a regular 4-4-2.

Do you think he'd work in the 4-3-3? I don't think he would personally. More of a poacher, pen box player than Bothroyd and don't think he had the technique or physicality to play in the role of holding the ball and bringing others in to the game. Excellent finisher though.Originally posted by paulmason View PostFor me, the perfect replacement would be Danny Graham.

Yes, if the system is 4-2-3-1, 4-5-1 or 4-3-3, Graham is the fox in and around the box we need and as you say, he is an excellent finisher, so why would you want him anywhere else. Boothroyd gets dragged out of the area and turns into more of a provider and long shot merchant, than finisher.Originally posted by Nodge70 View PostDo you think he'd work in the 4-3-3? Generally agree with most things you say, but completely disagree on Bothroyd.Originally posted by Nodge70 View PostNot necessarily a stamp of approval!! Would you take Vassell or Ricketts?

Stick him 4 yards out at home to Doncaster and he'll score. Make him work for it and he can't be arsed. Epitome of a flat track bully.
Helguson may be getting long in the tooth but he wins every header and runs his guts out. Bothroyd has absolutely no heart for a battle. Carlton Cole's crapper brother.
Last night a perfect example, 2-0 down, ball over the top, Bothroyd favourite against onrushing keeper, but he pulled out of a challenge and Federici cleared.
Both games against us he was decent for 30 minutes, but as soon as the game started to go away from them he gave up.
Would be forgivable if he scored regularly but he's a 1 in 6 striker in the Championship, and 20% of his career goals came in 6 months before Xmas.
