I think if we win against Derby but lose to Cardiff we will have a 7 point advantage with 3 games left (9 points)

so 3 more to be certain

One point to be promoted on goal difference. Two to be champions on goal difference. But if we win tonight, and don't lose Saturday, job done.

If we win tonight and Ipswich neat Norwich on Thursday, we are promoted, then if we draw with Cardiff, we are Champions irrespective to what anyone else does.

Thing is with the goal difference is that for it to come into play we'd have to lose most of remaining games and Cardiff would have to win theirs. So, a 0-2 defeat for us and a 2-0 win for them sees the GD swing +4 to them. Over 3/4 games it'd get eaten up quite a bit. Basically, our GD should be worth a point but I wouldn't absolutely bank on it just yet.

Indeed. If we win tonight, both Cardiff, and Norwich have to win all of their remaining games to pip us if we lose all our ours. Not very likely, but I won't relax, until Einstein can't disprove it.
