Am I the only person who finds it a pain coming here and then being sent somewhere else to read what the thread is all about ? It seems that almost every news type thread takes you away from watrb, when the whole ethos behind a web site is to keep people in your web site.

At least have the content here with a link at the end.

Not everyone finds these links. And if you just talk about them they don't believe you till they see the original link themselves.

I agree, surely if you want links to stories you check news now? I don't think that posting links to something like a match report adds anything to this site.

It doesn't take people away from the site - it opens a new window. It is pretty standard practice on internet.

Some sites do not allow you to copy and paste from - the QPR offy may be one example.

It is hardly a hardship. And I wasn't aware that this was a commercial website either. Adds are raising money or paying for upkeep, not making profit AFAIK.

Nothing worse than pasting an article then having a link down the bottom, as people will simply read the article and not click to the link. Its cheap in my book to do that. If a local runs a story, then he deserves to be able to get the hits on his site. Often bosses of these companies will study the clicks each article gets.

For example if DaveMc or Ben Kosky spends 1-2 hours writing an article, then they deserve to get the reconition. The only way they get this, is by going to the original source of the story, which is them.

Having the links at the bottom discredits this approach in my opinion, as once you've read it, you ain't going to click the link

Pete, what you have said does not make any sense. local/national newspapers, DaveMc or Ben Kosky, QPR Report or Clive will write their articles and blogs with or without a few click through's from wartb.com and by having the link to the original piece at the top or the bottom of the text is more than acceptable.

And as for your comment "once you've read it, you ain't going to click the link", that's the whole idea of having a successful website, educating people so they know where to go first for the info they want. Look at how Morris is saying how many hits his blog has received, many of them provided by the links he has listed from threads he has started on wartb, to the news item on his own blog, where he has a link to the original source.

Often supporters will come here first anyway, so we get the click then those respective journalists get it from here.
