  • 50 days and Josep Guardiola

It's 50 days since the sacking of Paulo Sousa and in that time we've failed to appointed a replacement whilst our rivals Ipswich have sacked Magilton, appointed Keane, released half a dozen players, won their remaining few matches with their new manager in charge and he's had time to assess his new squad.

    What are we waiting for?

In other news, congratulations to Josep Guardiola the former defensive midfielder who won the Champions League at the first attempt even though he has minimal experience of football management. Oops I hope this doesn't start a discussion about appointing managers with no experience!

Yeah but would he have been good enough to get us out of the Championship??

He did have a very good squad of players though.

Unlike an inexperienced manager closer to home ;)

he would have to have to play all out attack football then go down the pub and buy the beer with a few chosen supporters before he would have been accepted by some.

So would Guardiola have won La Liga and the Champions League if Iniesta, Eto'o and Messi had been absent all season?

possibly not, but in Thiago Alcantara, Pedro and Bojan they have 3 youngsters willing and able to play to the Barca level and probably good enough to win La Liga still....

worth noting that Guardiolas first decision was to ship out the liabilities in Ronaldinho, Deco, Zambrotta and Thuram....

he replaced them with hungry players like Gerard Pique who has been immense, Dani Alves who has aided Messi to his 39 goals this season....

his main masterstroke was taking Sergi Busquets from being a striker for the Barca Atletic team last season and deploying him in the water carrier role for the A team where hes been outstanding this season

how can you call Zambrotta a liability!!? and Bojan didnt exaclty set the world alight this season.

He has managed to get the team to work really hard and press the ball. The total skill of iniesta ,xavi and Messi set up Eto , Henry et al.

He has done a fantrastic job, won La Liga as well.

Would he take rangers up?, no , we do not have the quality of player, yet.
