    What are ECONOMIC RIGHTS ?????

    From reading through the numerous threads I can duduce the following ...

    - The player is /was / has been eligible to play for us from day one (hence no worries)

    - His economic rights were / are owned by a 3rd party .

    I understand image rights (only tends to happen at the big clubs re marketing etc

    Are economic rights to do with where the players wages go ie A third company

    Anyone ????

    Oh and we've used an unlicensed agent (Sounds like a hefty fine to me !)

      It's a club's right to use a player to make a financial profit from his performances.
      Rooney=money etc.

          Image rights - use of players image to sell shirts, tickets etc. Face in advertisement, programmes etc.

          Image rights carry tax benefits, this is why you often see numerous stories around image rights. HMRC are cracking down and investigating these image right deals as a priority as they see them as a loophole where rights are being contracted in but no images actually used. Essentially a tax efficient way of receiving a salary.

          You do need to be exceptionally careful with these.
