    Warnock - no ideas!

I was there today. We totally controlled the first half. Didn't create many chances. Just kept going sideways. The first time one of our players attacked the full back we actually scored!

The 2nd half was a joke. We didn't offer anything. Miller went off injured. We had nothing on the bench to change a game. No pace and Tarabat was trying too much and getting frustrated. Vagan Moen has no pace and no trickery to change a game. Cannot for the life of me see what he offers that Cook doesn't!

Preston were so poor and were there to be stuffed and claim 3 points. Playing one upfront doesn't always work and Warnock has no plan B. He has done a good job this season, but today he failed badly. Why we didn't change tactics and do something else I don't know. Maybe a 4-4-2 against such a poor side. This should have been 3 points in the bank.

We are not helped by our full backs never offering anything going forward. They both get just past the half way line and just stop, especially Orr. We so miss Walker who would have offered us another dimension.

Warnock needs to stop his stubbornness very quickly and realise that his 4-2-2-1 formation doesn't always work!!!!!!!!!!!

Mourinho changes formation many times in a game, but Warnock is stuck in this bl00dy formation. It has served us well, but it cannot always work!

This game will come back to haunt us.

I reckon we're gonna draw again on Tuesday and we're gonna lose at Middlesbrough.

Warnock - totally bereft of alternative ideas.

sorry thought you was on about the whole season, not all about one game.

            Well seems to me the ones that were there can confirm the following;

            Sh!te performance

            2 points dropped

            Preston were crap

            We offer nothing going forward.

I feel like a right miserable barsstard 2nite but those are the facts people, but hey let's all say the usual spin we're 5 points clear blah blah... I'd rather we were saying we were 7 points clear as we clearly should be.

Hammersmiths post is slightly controversial concerning NW but let's be honest he's not far wrong is he. No 3 points against Ipswich & I smell fear will creep in & yes I'm sh!tting it already as I've been to Boro 3 times & we've lost every time.

I can feel the frustration and great effort being there. This was a game we all expected to win and when we don't it gets us thinking that we can't be the real deal. Let's hope for a strong showing on Tuesday.

Purely in the spirit of playing Devil's Advocate -

Didn't create many chances ? Official stats suggest 14 with 8 on target.
What Moen offers over Cook ? Fitness ?
Why doesn't Warnock change to 4-4-2 ? I don't recall him doing so once this season, so I doubt it will happen now. At least not whilst we remain top. I suspect he does have a Plan B, and C but neither are clear to me. Pretty sure 4-4-2 is not one of them though.
Draw with Ipswich & Lose to Middlesboro - Quite possible as we have poor records against both. But EVERY game between now and May will be VERY tough. There will be no pushovers. It's the usual scrap that every team has to pick up enough points to get over the line.
                  Enough of that.....

I'm wondering how long we've been 5 points clear for (roughly). Yep, occasionally for brief periods 4 clear or 6 or 7 on one occasion after Reading, but pretty consistantly 5 ahead since December ? Early December maybe ?

I'd gladly take the same advantage over the next 2 months and into mid April and the last 4 games. A win & a draw would probably be enough for promotion if not the Championship.

As I tried to put on several threads here and on the dot org board, PVM is NOT a replacement for Smith, he is NOT a wide man!
Back-up for Faurlin in the middle.
Cook would have given us far more potential to stretch a very poor PNE defence.
Don't know why NW couldn't use him, given that both Smith and Ephraim are out -- Cook has something to prove and would have given his all.

I wasn't there today and I am not one for negativity and a point away and win at home and all that stuff sounds great. But I can't recall too many times when I have seen a post by HammersmithR that wasn't well thought through and looking at things we need to discuss.

Yes, I am delighted we are top....

Nobody mentioned the header onto the bar, if that goes in, 2-0 up game over...
So what if Warnock was going for one-nil? we have had a few 1-0 wins, you're away from home, normally you counter attack, you don't throw 8 men forward. What did you expect? 4-2-4?

In doubt we win boro, they just bought the magical Zemmama! ZOUMA ZOUMA!! he will split our actual defense to half! he played 15 minutes in first game and 30 minutes yesterday and he already at 3 Assists.

Zemmama is Adels teammate and international Moroccan. great techniques and mainly hell great vision. he can take 2 , 3 players in one move.
Boro did a great business deal there.

for NW, PLAN B is put Adel as striker, tell him to stay just near the opposite Gkeeper and do his magic there for the last 15 minutes when we struggle to score. change formation to 442. we have enough with draws, I prefer we loose than draw. at least with bottom teams where the lost game doesnt affect the table. play for WIN or LOOSE. plz no more draws!

But the header did not go in, so a spurious point to make.
And we could and should have been further ahead by half time.
Instead we were treated to a Rangers of seasons past, namely, go in winning 1-0 and come out to defend that lead -- no confidence to go and finish off a very, very poor PNE side -- we made them look like the top team, were on the back foot for most of the second half, and the defence were flapping BADLY.
That's why, 5 points clear or not, this morning I feel very concerned -- those 5 points will have evaporated by this time next week, I fear.

(Can't honestly say that I heard any optimism from the others who went up there yesterday either.)
