Good point. Imagine if they had waited until they got promoted what those players would have cost. We need to spend now to ensure we don't pay over the odds when/if we get promoted. As it looks our squad is too small and too unbalanced as it stands. -

Simpson was already on loan. Williamson was a good signing, and Routledge was very effective for the rest of the Championship campaign but has struggled in the Premiership. The other three played little to no part.
Possibly you could argue the new faces might have given the squad a psychological boost, but it's still only the sort of value for money that a club with parachute payments could contemplate.Comment
