    Could We get Promoted?

If we didn;t buy anyone in January?

bearing in mind with the same team we are 4 points clear and a game in hand.

Where would the new players actually go?

Surely,. you would pretty much have to guarantee first team football for any new signing?

we don't buy, we don't get promoted, watford will not be the only off game, so we need to be able to change it around and freshen the team up.

We could get promoted with no new signings, but we would be stupid to not invest and give ourselves the best possible chance, especially with the resources we have.

I think we could , if we keep Walker till the end of the season, and more importantly keep everyone fit, we have a strong enough squad.

I honestly believe we would fall away and even out of the play offs (ala Cardiff in recent years) if don't improve the squad in January,

Whilst I'm over the moon with the position we're in I think a number of times we've ridden our luck and our bench in recent weeks has looked very uninspiring.

This league traditionally gets going at xmas /new year (occasionally a team will do a Newecastle and stay on top for the duration) and the teams with strenghth in depth and that little bit of quality will start to come to the fore.

The table at the end of year never lies however at the moment I feel its telling a few porkies !!

Maybe I'm just over cautious coz this is QPR afterall however a lot of teams will have taken heart from the way Watford took us apart and NW definitely needs to strenghthen the defence and forward line

Fair comment, but we have good players now who cannot get into the team.

Who do you drop, presuming of course next 5 games we do well

I don;t think its a case of signing 4 or 5 players and putting them straight into the team . That would do more harm than good.

At the moment the first eleven pretty much picks itself and I'm sure some of the players know that . The signing of Tommy Smith was a good example.

He didn;t go straight into the team , Hogan knew his position would be under threat if he didn't perform , Smith forces his way into the team and the rest is history

The same theory needs to happen with 3 or 4 positions however mainly upfront.

I don't think any potential signing expects to walk into a side like the way things used to be. They're all aware now that its a squad game and squads get rotated for varying reasons.

At the moment we are as attractive as any Prem league team in the bottom 8 or 10 and any potential signing must surely look at our situation and think that our future/outlook is a whole lot rosier than the West Hams of this world

That deal reminds me of the time Redknapp stole Sinclair off us and slung us Dowie and Keith Rowland in exchange.
West Ham fans would be in uproar if that deal goes ahead.

It will seem a bit wierd if the owners dont invest in a few class players to help with a promotion push to keep us in the top two.

Pete is this your way of softening us all up for not much action in the January transfer market?

sign a centre back, centre mid and striker and retain smith and walker.

the other 3 signings are to push those in current 11
