Ben Watson plays full 90 for Wigan

Looks doubtful the deal is almost done as some have said?

Could be bad news, but not necessarily. Still think we need him more than Ambrose.

Doesn't mean much really. If Martinez has identified targets for that position in January then theirs still a good chance BW will leave.

Would prefer Ambrose though. Good player & would send the Palarse fans to the nut house if we signed him.

It means sod all. Bellend was a first teamer all of last season and bombed out, it happens all the time.

With the R's being off yesterday I went to the DW stadium for Wigan v Stoke.

The fans there don't seem to like Watson very much, groaned every time he misplaced passes (which he did for the first half hour, very nervous performance). Having said that, after his assist for the O.G., he looked a different player, spraying a good mix of long passes, through balls and one-twos very well indeed and became the focal point of the centre of their midfield, and the crowd got off his back. Seems to me to be very much a confidence player.

Looking at the rest of Wigan's squad though, it's hard to see why they would sell him - they've got next to nothing in reserve!

One other conclusion I drew from the game: Taarabt over N'Zogbia any day!!

Great. :yush: Don't think I have ever seen him have a good game. Vastly overrated imo. A few palace boys i've spoken too have said the same. I suppose, at least Warnock will get the best out of him.

Watson was a really good player when at CP, but seems to have lost his way a bit since moving. I was happy when we signed him on loan last year but didn't think he done any good for us. Don't think he will get a regular game at Wigan (his hairs the wrong colour) so if NW thinks he can do a job for us I would welcome him back although I think there's better players about.
