To stay on course for winning this league, we require a point in the next 4 games, and only 11 points from the next 14 games.

To stay on course for a play-off spot we require a meagre 6 points from the next 14 games!

Just shows the importance of putting points on the board early. We have a transfer window to indulge in, as well.

Your mathematical skills are a bit rusty

If we get 11 points from the next 14 matches, that would leave us on 38 points after 25 games. That is an average of 1,52 points per game. To even get in the playoffs you normally need an average of about 1,6 (Blackpool actually got in the playoffs with 1,52 avg or 70 points last seson). Definitely not a route to direct promotion.

For direct promotion we will need an average of about 1,9 points per game. After 25 games that would mean 47 or 48 points. That means we need around 20 points from the next 14 games.

My mistake. Should have read as next 9 games, not 14!

Read my spreadsheet wrong. Need about 37 points by 20 games.

Guess I'm not cut out for stats, due my typos!
