Bring back terracing at football

I can undestarnd the security aspects about terracing, but now with so much technolgy you could restrict it by having a certain amount of supporters. In the old days they would allow anyone in and thats what led to terrible scenes we saw.

The irony of it all, is that I've seen the majority of away fans in the premiership stand up, though now few are being banned on health and safety grounds.

Not the case. They've had numerators on turnstiles since the mid sixties. Many times at various grounds turnstiles were shut due to reaching capacity and not one of the football disasters of the past 125 years was caused primarily of overcrowding.

These days its a false economy anyway. "IF" the government backed down and allowed safe standing back into the top two divisions, the local authorities would not allow more people in those areas than they are currently already licenced for (due to access/egress and fire regs), which means clubs would not reduce prices and defeating the whole scheme.

at my age , its seats all the way for me.

Has seats reduced the level of mindless violence at football? just a question.

If so, keep them.

I think it has certainly led to more families and females go to games.

There are and always will be enough seats in the ground for those who want to sit down but surely when most of us are standing anyway, it is better we have a section to stand rather than us wrapping our legs around a seat if we score etc, more dangerous than good imo.

I'd certainly be in favour of bring back the choice of terracing. Football's not the theatre.

Used to stand on the Paddocks when they were a terrace which went back underneath the top tier -- before the fish-tanks were installed.
Would love to be able to have the choice of standing again.
