When magic Moroccan Adel Taarabt is leading QPR to the top of the Championship as the only team with a 100 per cent record, you have to wonder where the punters have gone.

When magic Moroccan Adel Taarabt is leading QPR to the top of the Championship as the only team with a 100 per cent record, you have to wonder where the punters have gone.

Admiring QPR boss Neil Warnock said after his side beat Scunthorpe 2-0: 'He's lovely, you put bums on seats with Adel. You'd pay to watch him on his own.'

So how come only 12,046 turned up - the second lowest in the division?
With Taarabt producing the crowd-pleasing stuff that used to come from Rodney Marsh and Stan Bowles, it is a huge worry for QPR that they can't attract a decent crowd.

Taarabt, the forward Spurs sold for a bargain £1million, ran the show until he tired and was cheered off on 73 minutes after making goals for Bradley Orr and Heidar Helguson.

But Warnock reserved special praise for Argentine Alejandro Faurlin, who quietly ran midfield.

Warnock raved: 'I've never worked with anyone better. Ally sees things way before me and I think, "Bloody hell, I'm lucky to have him''.'

Scunthorpe boss Nigel Adkins said: 'QPR will probably finish in the top two because talented individuals are working as a team. 'We could have got something, although we were missing three important players.'

There's a recession on and we have extremely high ticket prices for the level we are at ...there's 2 reasons off the top of my head! ...certainly effecting me this season ...I have to pick and choose games and Scunthorpe at home isn't top of the list!

Egham very good point and that is exactly the way myself and Myu think. Expect to see us both at the middlesborough game to cheer on the lads but at this testing time I think you have to prioritize and for most that means paying the bills. I know rangers do some great family offers but for adults that live on 1 income it would be great to offer 10 pound tickets and just fill the ground. Or 5 pounds off each catorgory.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

          It is a worry.
12,000 is VERY poor. 300-400 from Scunny doesn't help.
It did look like there was more, especially in Ellerslie & LR Upper, but not in LR Lower or SAR.
I wonder how many Sun offer tickets were sold and if they were counted in the official crowd figure ?

However, we can all play a part, I bet most of us know some lapsed fans. Let's encourage them to come along again.
          Tell them what they're missing.

We should be averaging 14k at least.

Its the fact we played scunny.

We will definately get 16,000+ against Middleborough.

People will choose the bigger games when they can't afford to watch every home game.

board need to build up some trust with fans as they have been spoting spin and BS for last couple of seasons...many fans cheesed off with them at the moment.
Keep up the winning though and those that can afford it will come back

That doesnt explain why we had the second lowest in the division.

Sir Les it does. I bet with a bigger game against boro you will see over 16k, its just fans will save money for the bigger games.

A paper like the Mail wouldn't waste time hating us. Even worse, we just do not come up on their radar - hence the shortish report for a team at the top of the championship.

What's more, the Evening Standard and Mail sports' desks wouldn't hatch something like that together. They just don't have the time to hate a medium-sized club like us. Trust me, I'm a journalist.

The reporter, trying to get an angle for a Monday morning story after the Sunday papers, went with the low attendance line.

And it's true - for a side top of the division we should be drawing better crowds. I hope people start coming back - starting with the Boro.

I think the ginger one has sumed it up and its not just at QPR.

Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan believes the recession is having a big impact on football attendances.

A crowd of 14,633 saw Boro beat Sheffield United on Sunday - a record low for a league game at the Riverside.

"The recession is hitting now. It's only footballers that seem to have money," he said after the 1-0 win.

"I think in a place like ours where unemployment is huge, you're not going to get people turning up to a game that's on the television."

Its the same recession for everybody and the same time fo year for summer holidays for everyone and yet we were still the second lowest.

It is the boards fault. Prices are too high and thats the main reason. We also didnt buy players in the summer that would attract people.

Fair weather fans aside, we should still be getting more than 12k.

He sounds unintelligible at the best of times but Gord may have just hit the nail on the head. Not rocket science, but good to see managers recognising it.
