Great to see, better getting hungry young players like this than paying huge wages to senior pros who dont give a ****

And why not? How many players were plucked from the league of Ireland or lower league for peanuts and turned out to be real gems??? I'm not saying this kid is the next big thing but Im delighted to see us scouting and signing up and coming players. On a average gate of 13k I don't expect us to be signing premier class players on premier league wages so what is wrong with trying to find a Ferdinand or Sinclair in the lower leagues???

Agreed that scouting is a way for the (future)-we have defo missed out not having that in place in the recent past-not knocking us taking good young players on board and ireland is somewhere we should look closely at.....was reading this post in a negetive way..ie our very sorry striker transfer system.......hope the fella is a find

I personally love seeing stuff like this. It shows we've got a scouting system in place. Ray Jones was found playing in a park at 15 years of age.

Look at where Leeds got Beckford from and Palace discovered Ian Wright. You never know lads...this really could work out well.
                Your mum would love me...

The fella is probably on about 500 notes a week and with some proffessional coaching may turn into a gem ... who knows ?

                  Surely worth a chance .

Absolutely, whilst it would be great to see us signing players like Beattie, Hooper, Roberts or Scotland, players that would make an immediate impact, it looks like wishful thinking.
But I would love the club to start bringing through youngsters and who knows if we actually got the scouting and development right we could even make a profit by selling some which in turn would enable us spend money!
