    Thoughts on today

We flattened Barnsley 4-0, we're top of the league, but the score could easily have ended 7-3.

So how were we? Great going forward, featuring the scintillating talent of Adel Taarabt, who didn't give Barnsley's defense and midfield time to breathe. He was brilliant all day long - and funnily enough, he learned to pass, too. Faurlin did everything right - bar a short early on that went well wide- while Derry kept the midfield motivated and marshalled the midfield.
Defense-wise, the defenders did well in desperate situations - and there were a couple of those moments thanks to some terrible cross-catching efforts by Paddy Kenny. Orr looked very useful, and Hall put in the fourth and looked OK. Liegertwood came on and helped to set up the fourth with a sublime pass to Ephraim, and Gorkss was fine. Didn't see much of Hill, to be fair.
Our biggest complaint going into today's game was up front. Despite a well-taken penalty and good work rate, Helguson contrived to miss two absolute sitters (a header and a missed-tap in that can only be seen to be believed). Jamie Mackie worked his socks off too - the fans still loved the fact that at 3-0, he ran back to retrieve a lost ball- and he profiteered from an horrific goalkeeping mistake from Barnsley's keeper.

    Rating: 4/5

And Barnsley?I can understand why Barnsley would have been pissed off. They played some lovely football going forward, they hit the post from a 25-yard strike in the first half, the penalty given against them (the Taarabt one) was a little weak, and they hit the post straight after Helguson's finish put us up 1-0. Not only that, but they had a penalty denied when Hall was adjudged NOT to put his hand in the way of the ball, even though to everyone else in the ground, he did a bloody good impression of Kobe Bryant. Unfortunately for Barnsley, Mark Robins' defense is bloody awful. Something will have to change, or they'll be relegation candidates - which is a pity, considering their lovely football.

    Rating: 2.5/5

      Ok my view on today

Thought Faullin was the best player on the pitch, by a mile. Taraabt looked classy, he drove Barnsley mad, but when ever we were in bother Derry cleared up. We still need a decent striker but apart from that i like the look of our side. Barnsley were poor but i give Mackie credit for that because everytime their full backs got the ball he chased them down and they reverted to just lumping it.
Overall id give us 7 out of 10.

Good verdict. Sorry, but I thought Hall didn't have the greatest of games. He isn't commanding at all. He doesn't win headers, and looks for fouls too often. If he keep Connelly out of the team, then that's a mistake. The rest of the defence done really well. Orr looks a good signing, Gorkks had a very good game, and Hill was as solid as you could be.
Sorry, but the weak link is our captain.

If he has been made captain , then he is going to keep Connolly out, i would have Hall and Connolly as a center paring.

we won four nil and you only gave us a 7 outta 10 mate, which i thought was a bit harsh.
so i was saying what would the scoreline have to be to get a 9 or a 10 outta 10 from you.

Paddy Kenny clean sheet however post and bar saved him twice and nice goal line clearance by Heidar after Paddy came for a cross and it went through his fingers under no pressure.

Derry covered ground and played very well....

Orr & Hill my word what a differance having a couple of good full backs make both played well....

Hall & Gorkks ok ...Hall scored but his distribution at times was poor

Hogan i thought he had a poor first half but second half played very well linking up the attack....

Faurlin played well with nice passes...

Mackie scored from close range played well...could be a great signing for us...

Subs Parker came on looked good

                  German looked scared....

                  Mikel came on done ok....

Overall second half was better than the first, still need a striker not sure where Buzsacky was.....??? Anyone know??

Barnsley probably deserved a goal but looked very poor think this might be there season for the drop....

I know what you mean. Being captain should be a nailed on starter. Fitz shouldn't be a nailed on starter though. Gorkks had by far the better game today. Could be a problem for Neil in the future.

really gutted we missed out on ambrose, hes going to get 20 again this season, and then he will go for much more than we offered. maybe even to us if we go up.
pleased for you lot that he was loyal tho.
