Latest from Arsenal suggests two (unnamed) clubs have agreed terms with theml and it is now down to personal terms which the player is in discussion about. SSN says R's are still in the pack. With Leeds and Palace.

I doubt we are pursuing too hard for many of the reasons above. Warnock didn't seem to rate him. Or maybe that was his dislike of loan players so.......

Yes, agreed. If that is the choice I would rather any of them over Simpson. But wld have simpson if the choice was , say, him or Varney or some others that are being bandied about as rumours. To be fair to him, Simpson suffered after Routledge left. And I think actually Simpson will move back into midfield in the not too distant future of his career. I think naturally he is more No 10 or attacking CM than traditional #9 if you know what I mean. There are better options out there for as at 1.4m (could've had Hooper for that btw)

simpson was a young player, last season was his first in a first team. he played under five managers and was sometimes dropped or put on the wing. not saying he is a world beater but he has considerable potential and is bound to be a lot better/ more experienced this season. anyone who says he is not good enough for us should wait to see who we sign instead first. without simpson we wd be looking forward to a season in league one.
