Getting the signing on fee is part of the transaction- I don't know of another player who's had to wait for all or any of it?
Anyone know of this happening before?

How much experience do you have of football contract negotiations?

As I have none, I would have no idea. But I wouldn't think this is anything unusual. I used to think transfer fees were paid up front and that clubs didn't try and dodge tax but setting up off-shore accounts for image rights.
