Connolly hasn't lived up to his expectations. Think if there is not a big improvement in his game this season it could be his last chance at Rangers. Thought he looked very poor on friday.

As i'm prob in the minority on here, in the fact that i dont rate matthew as highly as most.

I dont think wenger would have sold him to us if he thought that he would have a future as a prem player.

Wenger to me is a very shrewed judge of a player, has he ever released or sold any of his youth team players, and those players have since gone on to make it at the top level.

I could be wrong but i cant think of any.

i like connolly as a full back seems to play better bit like mancienne when here,i think hes quality and if he starts centre back he needs games there in past seasons we always move him around never settled mostly as a full bk where he class

That is a fantastic Shout, How often has he been moved r/b to c/b to l/b , no settled position and not really a settled back four.

Think you'll find that Connolly was the reserve team Captain at Arsenal and left as he wanted first team football and not because he was let go. Wenger wanted him to stay. I'll agree he looks a little lost sometimes but then so would you be if you were surrounded by clowns.

Connolly is the best defender we have at the club, the great thing, he is very young.

Much better postional sense than Gorkss and best passer of a football at the back we have by a country mile.

Just wish he would he have a little more confidence and move forward with the ball.

Wenger wanted Connolly to stay and was offered new deal - he chose to move to play regular first team football.
Seb Larsson a very consistant performer for Birmingham in the premier league also let go by Wenger.
Wenger may be shrewd but not all the time, i mean who else would persevere with Almunia in goal ? (frankly there goalkeeping situation is laughable)

Stewart isn't slow. The only one with any pace or serious presence and we let him go - anyone worked that out yet?

Matt had a rough time last season. He's never been injury prone in his career so I think it was a little hard to take that all of a sudden he was sitting in the stands. Like pete said he is by far our best defender. U can pich holes in him all u want but he's still better than all the rest. I'm sure if he plays consistently this season you guys will have your opinions changed about him. Warnock likes him a lot so I think you will see him feature.
