One more minor point on your claim that Ambrose is too good for QPR. Seems a bit odd that he would agree to jump your (then sinking) ship for ours within hours of your club's ruin, if that were the case. I think Ambrose and QPR is a very decent match and would (I nearly said will) be ecstatic if it came off.

I believe that Ambrose's securing a deal with you was more about making sure he has somewhere to go if the worst happened.

Thankfully it didn't, which is why he wants to stay here (allegedly).

Thanks for that Eags. My response to your link would be that while Palace fans are bound to concentrate on the "received no bids / something extraordinary" part, QPR fans' ears would equally ***** up at the "never say never" part.

Say, for instance, they'd agreed that a million up front, rising to one and a half with appearances and / or promotion and he's gone, we may well have lodged or be on the verge of lodging such a bid.

Think about if with negative emphasis, when he does sign for Rangers, the fee will be talked up and you can then resort to the "you paid over the odds for a whining back stabber" approach.

Not that I expect a response after you shirked most of my first post but, honestly, would you put your mortgage on Ambrose NOT signing for QPR for an 'undisclosed fee' before August 7th?

The "never say never" thing is rather dependant on the "something extraordinary" part, or at least that is how I read it.

I don't believe that a Million up front is enough to secure Darren, and the £500k is not very appealing because at the moment it is quite likely that the money would never be recieved.

I don't believe anything under £2m would be over the odds. If you paid us any more than that, I think we'd let him go without a doubt; despite the wishes of the fans. The board are very much interested in running a tight ship with a wage structure, and they won't be willing to break this merely months into their reign. I doubt he'd ever be called a back-stabber after his heroics last season.

I wouldn't put my mortgage on it; but I would definitely say that it's more likely he'll be a Palace player come August 7th. I refuse to believe that a group of business-smart gentlemen would view blatant lies as the best way to gain the trust of the fans.
