I feel sorry for those of you too young to have seen that 75-76 side.
If memory serves correctly in that pre-season we beat Champions of 3 countries, then Liverpool on the opening day, then 5-1 away at Champions Derby a week later.

How right you are Fawny. We also beat Benfica 4-2 pre season and then later in the season beat Moscow Dynamo in a friendly at the Bush who won the Russian championship that season. We also trashed Red Star Belgrade in Mick Leach's testimonial - all great prep for the UEFA Cup campaign of the next season.

I was only 12 that season but saw 12 out of 21 away games as my Dad was a huge Rangers fan. Happy days. It was one of the best teams that I have ever seen - and I don't mean just the best Rangers team. The quality of football was sublime.
