  • From watching the Tavistock Highlights..

It remeinded me how poor the delivery last season from our full backs were.

As I have said before, Full backs are the most important position in the team.
Moves begin there, they make the decision whether to hit a channel ball or come inside, or hit the CF for it to be held up.
Also providing the width for numerous attacks.

Watching the world cup, showed how important this was. How many times did you see Ramos and Capdevilla bomb on for Spain and whip in decent balls for the CF to attack??
They were both always an outlet; I cannot stress how important it is to have specialist full backs.

Clint Hill and Peter Ramage simply WONT DO.. Neither had pace, neither can get down the line, neither are particularly good at crossing, both are immobile and both are centre halfs at full back.

This not only causes us problems when faced with tricky wingers but more importantly at what cost to the team, NOT having the outlet and ability to attack from the wings..

Why have we not addressed this problem for the past 3 years??? Gino bloody Padula was the last half decent full back we had , and he struggled in CCC.

If Warnock thinks having 4 centre backs across the back 4 will be a success then he along with the team will get found out..

I dont expect anyone in like i said, but csnt stand another season of 2 lumpy centre backs, trundleing back whilst getting out paced by the most average of wingers.

Sort it out FFS it's July!!

said on an earlier thread Jeffro that our crossing from the right was woefull to say the least. But did hold the ball and played to feet a lot so thats a positive!

I agree full-backs are vital. We need better ones gong forward. Ramage is a centre-back, end of... It is a shame Borrowdale isn't quicker as he has fantastic delivery, he was even taking dead ball kicks for Charlton.

On the matter of Spain, Ramos probably did that about once. Spain, in my opinion, are dull to watch after a while (although I love their technical ability) and they only go through the middle. So to use a comparison of them to attacking full backs is a bit surprising to me. Ramos continually got the ball, turned back, and passed it inside. zzzzzzzz

Anyway, I agree what you're saying, and untile we have that you'll never get the best out of forwards.

Are you kidding me... I watched Ramos, time after time, game after game, attacking the opposite full back and whipping crosses in, you must have been watching a different team to me. Did you not see Alan Hansen and Shearer praising him for doing this??

Anyway I'd prefer Alan Hansen and Lee Dixon at the back to Clint Hill and Ramage!!
