It could be that we sign cheaper options to strength our defence in order to pay much better wages to players whe need to sharpen our attack. My impression is that our main problem lies mainly in that area.

You don't always need these big names to be successful though. Derry and Hill were never going to be marque signings, but they do a job. Also, I a 100% certain that Mackie will be one of the best signing we've made in years. The lad is far better than some would have you believe. Clarke was always going to be a backup player anyway, so I don't understand why everyone got upset about him either.
