Do we need a Donkey?

Not every team has one or neccessarily needs one but do we need a Heskey type player who doesn't score a lot but contributes massively with and without the ball?

Hooper has scored a lot of goals this season but IMO this is down to the work of Paul Hayes. He himself may have only scored 8 league goals this season but he has made 10 assists and probably countless other opportunites for Hooper. I think Hooper, Maynard or even Simpson would all make fantastic permanent signings but is a donkey type striker actually more what we need than a pacy smaller striker?

We have more donkey than New Zealand have sheep, so no we don't need a donkey. Heskey is not a donkey and he would still get into my starting 11 for england. We do however need a big strong centre forward. My preference would be Beattie but I guess that is showing to much ambition.

beattie wd be ideal because he has the donkey like qualities sir pie identifies but with more of a thoroughbred finish. but no idea how realistic he is. none of us still have a clue, as far as i know, whether we will be offering two or three million to spurs for a player or looking to snaffle another free transfer from barnsley (who was that striker we got from them on a free about three seasons ago who we were all mildly excited about but did absolutely nothing?)

I think we will end up with Hulse or Stead to do the 'physical presence' work, if we do that then we need a real goal scorer next to them such as Maynard, Hooper, Chopra. This system works in the CCC and NW likes tried and tested players and systems.

If you listen to Warnock on MOTD2 it was he who called the work that Heskey does for Villa "donkey work". Hence why I started this thread.

Heskey is great and give O'Neill a fantastic option from the bench or from the start. Players like Maynard and Hooper would be great additions but they need "donkey's" to give them quality ball and space to work in.

Nardiello was that striker.

I think QPR do need some sort of 'Donkey', but preferably one that can score a few goals too. I think Beattie would do a good job at QPR if he stays fit.

I don't know much about Bogdanovic, but he has scored more goals this season than Simpson.

Steve howard is a proper donkey, floppey ears and eats far to many carrots, really don't want us to sign him. Beattie has quality and would be ideal

NO, not steve howard. S*** footballer and i would hate him in an R's shirt. Get beattie if your going to get anyone big, anyone out of simpson, hooper, maynard, chopra, nugent, sharp or ebanks blake would do a good job and none are that tall

I would def give up if colin signs a donkey...I would be embarresed if steve howard or someone like that came. Proper anti football.

Yeah I agree, but I do think we need a big man upfront to do a similar job that Ibra does at Barca. I think Beattie would offer goals and good hold up play.
