.......he is about to make an important addition to his backroom team: QPR’s first full-time chief scout since 2004.

Six years after Mel Johnson left Loftus Road and was not replaced, Rangers are set to appoint Kevin Randall, who is currently chief scout at Crystal Palace.

Randall, 64, worked with Warnock at both Palace and Sheffield United, and will be an important part of the manager’s preparations for next season.

wow didn't realise that, about time then

shame we didn't/couldn't have got johnson back.still it's good to have a real scout, perhaps now we won't have to use base soccer.hope gp doesn't feel the pinch too much.

Hard to say how effective Johnson was - maybe he was recommending players and we just couldn't afford them. If Randall has been Warno's chief scout at Palace then that's enough for me because they have brought on way more young talent than we have in recent years. Who was the last player to break into our first team from the youth side (and I'm not quite sure you can count German or Balanta yet)? I can't even remember.

We must have paid for half of them to put their kids through private schools!

                Nodge70,

I hazard a guess we will spend more this year than we have in the last 6 years, thats the difference.

League table for the last 6 months on Agents fees we are one from bottom yet again. Soon to be released

That'll be for "disclosed" payments won't it?
