          Keane would be an interesting appointment.
          I'd rather go with him than with Di Canio thats for sure.

            Think he would just upset the players.

              Keane would be miles better than De Canio. Absolute miles. On so many levels (not least marketing and retail drivers). Despite some pretty solid rumour, just can't see it coming off. Expect GP/FB to go for their version of the "safe" option of LDC and Ainsworth who won't rock the boat or ask too many awkward questions.

                  How could anybody not want Keane? He took over Sunderland when they were second bottom and took them into the Premiership 1st time of asking. Thats a pretty good track record in this league wouldnt you say?

                  Upsetting the players? Who gives a crap. Maybe some of these highly paid footballers need a kick up the rear.

                  We also all moan about Flavs input, but surely this would put an end to that problem.

                  Maybe Flavio has learnt his lesson and will tell Keane he's got 1 year to get us up and will let him get on with it.

                  By the way, Keane is second favourite for the Ipswich job so there might not be any truth in the rumours anyway.

                    wouldn't want him as i think he is a ticking time bomb.....and hasn't a clue how to spend transfer funds...pays whatever price is asked.
                    as for the the good track record...people said that about dowie

                      But even in this division Sunderland gave him a massive budget and he brought in a lot of players. Could he do the same with just £2-£3m? I doubt it.

                          You'll find that was the Sunderland board, not Roy Keane.

                            and there was no way keane would moan if he didn't get what he wanted....think it was a combination of both parties myself.

                              I agree but would also argue that he would be inheriting a stronger squad with Rangers.

                              To get Sunderland up he had to improve in nearly every position so he spent;

                              August

                              Yorke free
                              Miller free
                              Kavanagh 500k
                              Connolly 1.4m
                              Varga 1 mill
                              Wallace undisclosed

                              which got Sunderland into the top half and then;

                              Jan

                              Stokes 2mill
                              Edwards 1.4mill
                              John undisclosed
                              Evans loan
                              Simpson loan

                              A total of about 7mill give or take. We dont need as many players as that. We only need a striker and possibly 2 full backs.
