I wonder if we are starting to see, albeit on a small scale, a change in the way teams achieve success. Early days of course but we are seeing some interesting and surprising results. Teams like Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth show no signs of fear or inferiority when facing supposedly better sides. Their assets frequently get raided by the top clubs but they come back seemingly stronger, due to intelligent decision making. Perhaps it will start to sink in with club owners that merely splashing increasing amounts of cash on signings who really, very often fail, is stupid. Coming to it’s’ senses like this, may help save the game.
The look on Jordan Henderson’s face when his Chelsea were being thumped by his old club was enjoyable.
