I reckon both teams will agree to play their squad players for the first 60 mins to give a final look on who needs to be sold or loaned out. Perhaps some of those playing agsinst Portsmouth will get 30 mins at the end.
Hoping for a decent competitive game, we're in South Africa Rd stand, as I think Ellerslie rd is not open, not sure if it's to do with limited ticket sales, or work going on?
Only Wall are allowed in Ellerslie Road (Literally the road, not the stand). Dunno if the closed bits of the stadium are designed to thwart trouble or they were just expecting a lower crowd?
Put out a half-baked side in a London derby and first game of the season against a team that has become accustomed to taking most of the points against us lately and we could be feeling a bit like France did at half time against England. We need to start winning cup games too.
Interesting to see how the club approach the game. Hope we give it our best and give the fans a bit of a cup run for a change. Not sure how Millwall will approach it either really. Looking for some midfield strength to emerge.
I feel both teams will field their best available XIs. I accept there's an obsession with "taking it easy" in early games and making sure we last the 46-game pace without blowing-up BUT fat lot of good it did us last season, we were shite over last two months!
The aim should be to blast out of the box all guns blazing followed by a balls out sprint to the International break THEN have a break. Gently easing into things is a crud mentality to start a season. Go hard today and then go harder still next week.
I can't see Alex Neill being interested in faffing about so if we do pussyfoot about we'll get a right walloping.
