After last nights cup win, I’m sure we’ll see a few of the lads in the squad given the long injury list (Dunne, Burrell, Dembele, Poku, Mbengue, Kone?) - RND probably won’t feature, I’m sure. We’ve seen Smith feature a few times - gave away 2, well 1 penalty but is without doubt a prospect. Bennie is becoming a regular and improving nicely, Adamson looks rash and out of sorts. Pearman looks outstanding so I’d like to see him given a go on Saturday and Dillon looks like a fox in the box goalscorer - with Burrell (definitely)and Kone both probably out why not start with him upfront with Kolli. Thoughts?

The only one I would guess who might be up to get some mins against Ipswich is midfielder Isak Alemayehu, he’s been in the first team squad a number of times this season. It was very noticeable that once the DS went 3-1 up last night he was withdrawn, so I’m guessing it was in preparation for Saturdays game.
The likes of Pearman, Dillon, Scarlett, Tarbotton and Putman all look good prospects but need another year to get stronger to be able to compete in men’s football, Putman and Dillon are the only ones to have been out on short loans to non league teams this season

Brentford, Charlton, AFC Wimbledon and Leyton Orient have taken part; the rest semi-pro AFAIK.Originally posted by SheepRanger View PostWhat was this cup final?
Did we play against local amatuer sides or were there other pro development teams in it? I assume it was a london only comp?
They didn't do quite so well in the Middlesex Senior Cup, exiting in the Quarter Final.

I don't think it's wise to bring kids into a floundering, failing, disinterested and out-of-form team, even if it's a "dead rubber". What does it prove? They need to spend months on the subs bench, gradually building up experience of full-throttle high intensity Championship football.
We chucked Adamson in at the deep end last week and let's face it, the poor lad nearly drowned. That does more harm and good in my eyes.
Look at Kolli's trajectory - it's taken him at least 3 seasons to get to this point, part of the squad but not quite a starter yet. They have to bide their time and ease their way up the pecking order and earn their stripes in a genuinely competitive environment. We should not and cannot treat today like some sort of beano for mucking about or experimenting in.

Teams in League 1 or 2 are much less likely to want to take anyone on loan without having first tasted first team football with us, otherwise your looking at non league clubs.
From my own personal wishes I would much rather see the likes of Pearman or Isak in MF than than the lumbering Hayden who looks like he’s playing walking football, or seeing the exiciting ex Arsenal player Scarlett putting some intelligent crosses in that none of our current first teamers can do.
If you knew anything about our youngsters you would guessed Adamsom would have been a flop because he’s no kid at 23.
Looking back at your previous wildly optimistic posts about promotion and results
this season shows the extent of your football expertise on here.
