  • QPR - The Project vs QPR - The Club.

It’s difficult to understand clearly what goes on at our club. I criticise JS regularly as he seems so unsuited to Championship football. However we cannot know what goes on in the background, Hence the title of this post. It maybe we need to cut JS a little slack.

I love a conspiracy theory (Trump had Epstein killed/Epstein not even dead) and it seems possible to me that Christian has no interest in club success (or fan affinity) but merely wants us to develop players for a profit. This would almost certainly tie JS up in knots on occasions and might also explain the kid gloves treatment given to players who have been injured.

Most chairmen/CEO’s, would surely see club success as one of the key factors in profitability. I am not convinced that Christian sees things that way. I would really love to know the truth.

Unless there is some basic change in the way our club is configured, I see no reason for great optimism next season either.

I just wonder how many other clubs in this division have similar projects running and whether this may have anything to do with the 8-team play-off incentive being introduced next season perhaps to push back against this.

With regards to the 'Project' who has actually improved as a player this season? For me Madsen is the only one, is that down to JS more than anything? It would appear so from the comments Madsen has made, he said something along the lines that JS had belief in him and gave him the confidence, he clearly didn't feel love under Marti and it showed in his performances.

But it is a major worry that there are no other significant improvements this season, then take Morgan, Saito, Varane who have all gone backwards, plus Field who is totally out of favor under JS. I know developing players is not a quick process but how long do we wait to see player profitability because FFP won't wait for these things to work.

Madsen improved most. Burrell improved from early games. Dunne improved. Kolli also.
CEO is brilliant - look at fees we got. Approach is very good although he’ll need to find some experienced players for next year to replace leavers

On paper the project looks great and should run alongside the club nicely. It is sensible and is a way smaller clubs can compete against bigger clubs. Just see the usual examples in the top flight.

However it isn't working very well for us. With exceptions players are either stagnating or going backwards. At any club some players will not improve or even make the grade at all but too many for us are not progressing. We have state of the art facilities, have invested in backroom staff etc but that isn't translating enough on the pitch.

This season has been fine but overall not particularly inspiring. Nice not to be fighting relegation again but too inconsistent, do not create anything like enough chances and struggle to impose ourselves.

Struggling to see who we can sell to make real money to help balance the books in the summer as that is what we need to look to do to reduce the annual financial deficit.

Have no problem keeping JS. Focus during summer though needs to be on a few key positions, maybe add a bit more experience and getting to the bottom of why so many players are not progressing as they should. If we can do that then I would expect to see a further improvement next season, maybe even top 10 and greater consistency. If not will be more of the same.

In my opinion this so called project of buy young players cheap and sell for a profit is a disaster for our club and fans.
First and foremost supporters want to win things , play at the highest level and be entertained , with our project that the hierachy have announced publicly we don't care about any of that , we just want to sell players for a profit. Well the best way to sell players for big money is to play well and win games therefore players look better and other clubs will be interested. Our owners have publicly stated that we don't care about results , we will try youngsters at the end of season , clearly showing the rest of the team that they don't care so why should they bust a gut. This was demonstrated early in the season in the league cup at Plymouth as well. Fair play to all the fans that still go to games but Nourry and co are mugging you all off .

Another failure .of this project is buying some of these youngsters from very low levels of football , like the Aussie J league , it is such a poor standard that these players will probably never be good enough for league one let alone the championship. Buying potential from league one and league 2 is a better method , like Kone and Burrel. Most of our youngsters need loans at leagues one and two but not sure any teams would want , Adamson , Esquerdinha , Bennie , Smith , Pearman, Akindelini ETC , They are all so far away from Championship level

I was listening to talksport last and they were discussing the demise of Chelsea. The view was tbat they dont have enough players on the pitch at their peak. Most players are around 24yrs because they want resale value. The only players we have at peak years are RND, Dunne, Chair and Smyth. The rest are either young and learning their trade or getting the last ounces out of old players.

If the Board want to generate £10m a season to minimise their financial input after historical investments then I think we're doing okay. Varanne was subject to a €5m bid in the winter, we can cash in on Saito to get our €2m back and if we can get £5m for Kelman the same will be there for Kolli. In the summer 27/28 Im sure we'll get £10-15m for Burrell & Kone.

i can understand why Hayden is being overlooked because hes not playing because Morgan is learning on the pitch. If Hayden was signed as a Nos 2 to Morgan's development then fine, but he might feel hes not getting a decent go at things.

If the club want to chase promotion then we need more players aged 26-30yrs to get that £120m jackpot. But they must think getting £10m a season in player sales is more achievable.

Their whole model demands that we provide a showroom or shop-front for these players to demonstrate to the world how talented they are.

We need to show-off defenders who can defend (but we have nearly the leakiest defence in the division).
We need to show off exciting dynamic progressive midfielders (but we play sideways/backwards walking football).
We need to show off pacy direct wingers who can whip a wicked cross over (we cant cross for toffee and have a queue of wingers in the sick bay).
We need to show off clinical strikers (we don't feed them enough service or chances).

I cannot see how we can routinely sell players for big bucks whilst the team is ponderous, disjointed, weak-minded, soft-centred, dull to watch and loses too many games.

There needs to be a sea change in mindset and attitude.... To me, we need a Sergeant Major Drill Instructor manager to get them fit, aggressive and up for a 9o minute scrap every time they take to the pitch. Christ knows what JS says to them before the game and at HT but it clearly doesn't fire them up in the majority of games.

Its hard to polish turds and if we persist in using players under 24yrs the result may end up the same.

JS has already said our injury record needs to improve, but what the issue is beyond weaker players I wouldn't know.

Recruitment and the medical dept seem to be the main issues.

Absolutely Abs…just what I was trying to say but you detailed it better. Our way is really quite unfathomable - (unless we are planning to fail).
