We're 18th. We've not progressed particularly far under the Briatore regime but we live to fight another day because of Briatore and the people he brought in. So whatever the real amounts are it's time to move on and look to the future.

What would you say if I said Ikeme was Hart's 2nd choice and the thing that prevented us getting Ashdown at Portsmouth was at the time they could have sold both James and the guy to Stoke (cannot remember his name)??, which would have left them short.

Look, I am not here saying that some of the buys/loans have been rubbish think we have been unlucky in regards Watson and Reid, but the very reason why we couldn't bring a name/names of quality is simply the budget was not there.

its okay talking about a Stead or healy, but they are not exactly pulling up trees.

Hi Terry,

As you know, I have no agenda one way or the other. However, if you are correct with this assumption, then does logic not dictate that GP should not soldier all of the blame, on the basis that the players that are prepared to come to us are vastly inferior to those that are not, hence he cannot be criticised for bringing in players of Bent's pedigree as opposed to the potential of Cox. The flip side of course, is that he is somehow responsible for the decline in the way things are done here, bringing that problem upon himslf to some degree. Just a balanced opinion as I have no great insight into the workings of our club.

I agree that we are going to struggle to attract the "quality player" to the club when the better angler is fishing about. In my opinion, the players he bought to the club this Jan were no improvement on what we had. Helgusson is of the same standard as Bent, Quashie has failed to nail down a place in the starting 11 and we got Priskin whilst Jon Stead went on loan to Coventry.

David Healy is another who went on loan to Ipswich, a proven international striker. I don't believe he was out of reach

It was also reported that Paul Hart had agreed a deal with Peter Storie for Ashdown, (far superior than Ikeme imo) Tommy smith and Williamson only for GP to scupper the deal which allegedly was the final straw for Hart in his decision to resign

So while i accept that GP may of had his hands tied in regards to budgets towards the end, he has failed to improve our squad for the all important final stage of the season.

I don't see how there is any defence for a man who has had to bring in 11 loans this season (the most in the divison). It stinks of failure, filling gaps in an unbalanced squad with loanees who dont give a ****.
