Yes we've got injuries but most of that starting eleven were starting games earlier in the season. Admittedly we have'nt got any decent subs to come on, we miss Chair , Burrel and probably Poku. A lot of our squad are not up to championship standard Saito , Dembele , Smyth , Kolli , Morgan , Bennie, Adamson , Esquerdinha and especially Walsh , to me this boils down to the CEO and manager for signing crap players and not getting them fit in pre season hence why we get so many injuries

At times saints looked like they had 15 players on the pitch , we just got to many half hearted not good enough players.
We lack tactics , strength and fitness....
Saito , kolli , Morgan , vale , Hayden not good enough ....
Service to kone is non existent.
Stray passes , weak tackles , no closing down allowing saints to knock it about up to the half way line with a challenge going in...
Someone slap that stupid smile off saito face when we are 3,4,5 nil down .

JS is useless , can't motivate the players to put the effort in , can't organise us defensively or at set pieces, can't change his tactics to suit and is late with subs.Originally posted by Sleeping Giants View PostI am reminded by the way Harry Redknapp needed Steve Mclaren whilst at QPR. Harry was not up to it after Steve left. JS seems to be good at progressing the young players which is what we need in our financial position but we also need a tactician and he doesn't seem to be that. We don't need a change of manager, we need somebody to work alongside JS. Even Brian Clough back in his day needed Peter Taylor at his side.
As for progressing the young players , they've gone backwards since he's been here, Morgan and Kolli especially.
Get rid of him at the end of the season

Just seen the highlights and Walsh was so weak for their second from the corner and letting the ball go under his hand for the fourth.
And to parry the ball back into play in front of him for their third wasn't a good look. Surely it bread and butter for keepers to push the ball to the side?
Definitely at fault for two and possibly three of those goals tonight. You could see the energy getting sapped out of our players with those soft goals.
After that, surely Hamer will start on Sat? But continuing with Walsh wouldn't surprise me....

Alot of knee jerk comments and don't really blame them coming in after that.
Ultimately we know Joe isn't uo the standard we need, i'm not sure why we are persisting, another classic example of a GK that can have a good game here and there as he is not a bad shot stopper, but he is not commanding in the box, indecisive, poor distribution and above all does not talk to the defence.
Most of last night can be put down to;
- Saints the better side
- Poor passing, movement, anticipation, just really poor quality in all 3 areas which the better Saints side just saw right through
- The majority of the team just disappearing into a shell after the first goal
Injuries are an issue but even a full squad, looking at the quality we would have brought in would have squandered last night. Though, i think with Hamer in goal, and more options to switch things in the midfield and up top we may not have been drubbed by 5.
We, as a team just have these really poor games and every time it's down to movement and passing being poor. We do not work as a unit and when we do it's often sideways passing without intent to move up the pitch, usually due to a lack of options, which again is poor movement. People whine about tippy tappy football and they're right to, but when players can't find a way to get the ball up the pitch i'm not sure what they are supposed to do? Hoofball GA style?
Goalkeeper, fullbacks and above all someone that can command the midfield and transition play.
I don't think JS is the problem, there is enough there to keep on with the guy. He gets things wrong bu seems able to understand when the team have been beaten by his poor exectuion and their lack of cohesiveness, which he does have responsibility for.

so many goalie could have done much better with. Madsen injury been coming for a few games as he clearly ran himself into ground. JS seems to be just experimenting with his rotation policy as he did it excessively earlier in season. At least I can book my holiday in May now. I’d keep all the management as they’ll work it out

JS has been given a brief by the Board to develop young players. CN also has the view that young players need to be tested in the first tean as early as possible because in the past a lot of those who went through that grew in stature, rather than get lost in development football. Cutting their teeth in the first team means their weaknesses are going to be exposed.
I think we'll learn from these games and a few of thoee players will go out on loan next season, leave, or continue to get their 15 appearances a season and continue to learn. These guys are not the new Class of '92 but they fill out the squad for a club with very little money. But I think the jury has made its decision on the likes of Walsh & Saito!!

Key point there is we don't work as a unit and haven't done so in years. This is not a new problem. Too little steel in centre and no cohesion going forwards. I do wonder if we are too married to play in a certain way and need a rethink. There is some individual talent there, just don't play enough as a team. Personally in summer would love us to recruit a nasty barsteward in defence and same in midfield to add leadership and steel. Goalie wise Murphy has spent last couple of years getting experience on loan and getting good reviews. Maybe he deserves a chance.Originally posted by topperharley View PostAlot of knee jerk comments and don't really blame them coming in after that.

As long as we do not continue to sacrifice rounds in cup competitions by putting out a team like we did against Plymouth. Lately we have acquired a cup record that even a League 2 side would not be proud of and are losing cup revenue as a result. Also, our first team players are in as much need for a toughening "cup fight" experience as the younger players. Maybe if we applied ourselves a bit more to cups and the effort that requires, we'd be better prepared mentally to get more consistent league results against those so called underperforming lower table end sides that usually do well against us.Originally posted by SheepRanger View PostJS has been given a brief by the Board to develop young players. I've been calling out for years that we need an athlete in defensive midfield. An absolute terrier from the lower leagues who will be the master of lost causes. A player that will win the ball and then pass it to those more gifted. But again, CN highlighted that there are premium positions on the pitch that command the biggest transfer fees. Midfield and CFs being the main ones. We will never have a midfield enforcer in our ranks in my opinion so we will always have a weak spine with young lads playing.Originally posted by Acton Stations View Post

If Walsh's performances are anything to go by the squad are pampered. He failed to come off his line against Blackburn to dive at someones feet to intercept a cross that lead to a goal. And for their second last night he allowed himself to be bullied in the box and looked like a 14yr old girl flapping her arms around in a defensive role on the netball pitch. Keepers used to be almost nut jobs with the likes of John Burridge throwing himself at anyone's feet and playing against the likes of Joe Jordan.
Im not convinced the club are thst bothered about promotion, we're just team that scouts come to, to look at our players. We're a shop window for clubs with a cheque books.

Stop with this nonsense about JS developing or bringing on youngsters - it's total bullshine.
He is simply throwing them into the line of fire because of a combination of injuries and under-performance to the match day 16.
It's not clever, it's not a masterstroke, he's simply dipping into the lower reaches of the players available to him.
Looking at our team, only Madsen seems to have kicked on and done well this season. I'd say that since September, EVERY other player has stagnated or regressed - there is literally NO evidence of JS coaching, developing or improving the players or our tactics.
I'm also wondering why we look to tired, so slow, so unfit compared to a lot of opponents recently too.
A squad going backwards, mentally weak and physically lacking must result in the gaffer coming under severe scrutiny.

Of course hes throwing on the wider pool of young players, but if you look at the ages of recruitment hes here to polish turds. If hes deemed to have failed at that then he'll go.Originally posted by Abseits View PostStop with this nonsense about JS developing or bringing on youngsters - it's total bullshine.

Look at the ages of the players we signed in the summer and Jan. Are there any over the age of 24yrs? Exception being Hayden, Cook and Hamer who if things were going well wouldn't have a sniff of the first team.
When Varane came off it was normally Mirgan who came on not Hayden for a sub outing. Now Edwards is up to speed Cook has gone. Burrell and Kone both young and being replaced by even younger.
JS was brought to play young cheap players. We dont sign players in their prime. Old ones are at the tail end where we milk them fir what is left in them.
