I would endorse Vale being given a go in CM instead of Varane. Varane doesn't seem to have the tools and instincts to progress us smoothly forwards. His touch is questionable so he often gets closed down and plays panicky balls to get himself out of trouble. Whereas Madsen seems to have adjusted to EFL mayhem and pace, Varane has stagnated I think.
I cannot say if Vale would be much improvement, he too may have a tendency to dither or take an extra touch that causes us to lose momentum. But, I reckon he deserves a go. Maybe this weekend he'll get a chance?

There’s a good reason why Varane is being selected in DMF, he gets around the pitch faster than either Field or Hayden. He's become the new scapegoat recently because he’s not seen to be able to pass the ball like Pirlo, now he’s probably out for months let’s see if he’s missed.. I like Harvey Vale because he can pick a pass and should be playing the attacking 8 role in a 3 man MF when he’s match fit but he’s never going to fill the predominantly DMF role Varane played imo.

Why is Varane out for months? (Im on holiday and nit fully up to speed)
Morrison:
"Defender Morrison was initially named in the side but was replaced by Steve Cook after suffering a hip injury during the pre-match warm-up"
Varane:
"Varane could also be facing a spell on the sidelines, having tried to play on before being forced to go off.
“He felt something. We don’t know exactly,” Stephan said."
Poku:
“Kwame Poku felt something as well at the end of the first half and that’s why we had to change at half-time.”
Burrell:
"Asked about Burrell’s injury, head coach Julien Stephan said: “I don’t know. But when you stop like this, it’s probably a hamstring, so let’s see. We will do a scan. But it’s not very good.”"
Mbengue:
"Amadou Mbengue also took a knock in the closing stages, but Stephan does not believe that is a cause for concern.
“I think it will be OK. I hope. It was more fatigue,” said Stephan."

Of the injuries picked up in the Sheffield Wed game I wouldn’t be surprised to find out Varane looked the most serious as his knee buckled under his body weight when trying to leave the pitch.Originally posted by SheepRanger View Post

Morgan needs to be playing regularly. It's unreasonable to expect him to randomly appear for a brief cameo every few weeks and be fully up to Championship speed.
He should go out on loan to a L1 club that will play him regularly so he can properly develop - as it stands, we are hampering and stunting his progression
