  • ex QPR players from last night

I'm sat here thinking about the work rate and general control we had most of the game last night. To some extents too, the quality of player especially when you consider what we have spent vs Brum. That then got me thinking about Bright & Robinson especially, Dykes to a lesser degree.

Bright and Robinson left us for more money and what they thought were better things. Both started as full backs for them last night and were no where near as good as RND and Mbengue. One a loan, the other a shrewd dip into League 1 and no doubt on much lower wages than Brum's equivalent QPR "rejects". Yes they've earnt well elsewhere and you can't blame them from a financial view point but in terms of a footballing perspective they got it wrong. Brights still only 28, Robinson 32. Neither at the end of their careers really.

Dykes I think left us for more game time so he got it wrong going to Brum. I'd probably have him over Frey when we lose players to injury and AFCON.

It just got me thinking about the nonsense of money vs playing time and in turn progression. Bright looked over weight and dire last night. Robinson looked like an old man, couple of good blocks but neither would get in our side! As a club we are doing things the right way with mostly youngsters and dipping into the lower leagues.

Based on where those mentioned are now in career Robinson tbh he’s been at few clubs since as has Bos

Dykes just made a financial call but they splashed out 10m on stansfield who was dog sh it poor last night as for lad up top he was pony

once players jog on I’m not fussed tbh but you are right we are doing things in a different manner and I like it we will always make a mistake but we’re going in a direction that we’ve not had for a fair while

Out of those three only Robinson was missed. He's had a decent career and a good footballer. It was a shame his time with us was limited due to injury.

BoS was average at best and only got to Turkey because he was a free transfer and they hoped to make some money on him. I never saw a top player in him.

Dykes went for the money and sacrificed his playing career for it. I dont blame him as he came into the game quite late and needed one big contract to set himself up. But what an average player.

May be wrong but I thought Dykes wanted to stay and decision to sell was ours which he was not too happy about. He had recently signed a new contract.

If he wanted to stay he could have stayed. He could have refused the transfer when under contract. But Brum were spending big at the time and probably threw a lot of wages at him to be on the bench. It affected his Scotland career too.
