Anyone know or heard anything about the extent of the injury/knock he picked up yesterday?

  • #2
Sorry Mem I was a big fan of his but for me him and Cook are both looking like liabilitys at the moment. I agree salter is always injured but he's still out best centre half who reads the game at a different level. Real shame we can't get him fit. Millwalls 2nd goal should of been dealt with but somehow made it past 3 or our players before their striker gets a nick on it. So poor
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

The CB pairing yesterday produced an awful performance yet many are saying they dont have any faith in Nardi.....

Agree that he was poor yesterday for sure. Was just wondering the extent of his injury as we have limited options at CB with Cook past his best, JCS permanently injured and Mbengue sometimes an accident or sending off waiting to happen.

I suspect Mbengue's pace and athleticism would have prevented Wall's first yesterday - the Cook/Morrison partnership looks a bit ponderous.

I dunno what's happened with Morrison, I thought he started okay in August and was growing into the season and looking decent. BUT, he dipped and then he had an absolute mare at Sheffield Wednesday and don't seem to have recovered his composure at all.

I wouldn't write Cook off, he has bags of nous and experience even if age is catching up with him - I think Mbengue/Cook would compliment each other and be a decent pair.

If injuries bite, Dunne could easily play CB and I'd be intrigued to see Smyth fill in at RB - I reckon he'd do very well there with his pace and doggedness.

Morrison looks off the pace this season. Apart from the goal line clearance v stoke, I've yet to see him produce a 90 min performance. He gets bullied and switches off too much. Hes still only 22 but he needs to start putting in some big displays or he will be dropped. We have cover and mbengue will start on weds. Cook may not play 3 games in a week so we could end up seeing field at lcb with mbengue. Personally id rather see us buy a proper classy right back, stick dunne in a cb and see who can play lcb.

Morrison and dunne haven't got going this season imo.

How much does a proper classy right back cost?

An old CB and LB know...........

I genuinely dont think many fans have played an 11 a-side game to any real level. Im sat in the stands stratching my head at some of the comments around me. Many blaming Nardi for the first goal!! I was never paid to play, but played at the top of county level and regional level occasionally. If I played in that back line on Sat, both Morrison & Cook would be getting both barrels from me!

                    Couldn't agree more Sheep.
When I saw people blaming Nardi I had to go watch the replays. Still not sure how his fault.

Kone robbed, Varane ball watching, Left back (name escapes me) played the guy onside, Cook didn't cover his runner. Nardi made one great save, showing he put himself in the right position and then got a finger tip to the second which seemed to put it through cooks legs.

Maybe Nardi should have come out and tried to put his head on it. But you don't see a ton of goalies doing that.

As for the injury question, not heard anything. Guess we will find one ton Wednesday.

All of the pieces make up the puzzle. We're still a couple of pieces short to become a complete team that will more consistently look top half of the table and challenging higher. We do need a first team right back that is a right back rather than a square peg. We also still need that first team number 8 in the middle. As has been said, however, that'll take expenditure so it'll likely be next season, not this. In the meantime we have to expect erratic results and performances; and sometimes people getting the blame when it's actually a bigger picture issue that people sometimes struggle to see because of annoyance or dislike of a particular player.

Well we managed to find a goal scoring striker for 2.5m and a rapid strike partner for 1.3m. Im sure the club could pick up the next david bardsley for decent money. These players are out there!!

We don't need a classy right back. We just need a bog standard Championship hardened one. I'm more than happy with RND at left back so no reason we can't pick up a decent full-back on the cheap for other side of defence.

Is weird how EVERY season we have a least one position where we're screaming for new blood and/or cover but the club never seem to notice or care. Seems its right back (again!) this season.
