  • Loss of £1 million per month

Are we are still losing £1 million a month as per the accounts for the 23/24 season? It seems the general feeling is that we are, but this doesn’t add up to me, we now only have a handful of Championship players in our squad and the rest are development players. Surely they are not on championship level wages, surely we must have the lowest wage bill in the division now (basically a league one wage bill) and with the extra tv money since 23/24 season.

The Nourry message is that we need to be a self sustainable business, yet if we are still losing a huge amount what is this loss on? Loftus Road? The training ground? If we do drop this season, those costs aren’t going to all of a sudden go away, so do we have to lose the training ground? Have to leave Loftus Road? The players are not going to be worth much if we go down, so not much money coming from sales either.

Something don't add up as wasn't there a report that were one of the best run Championship clubs finance wise now? may not of been a report but someone commented on it

Being realistic Eze sales will absorb most of that this season but the squads unfit injured or f kin useless there aint a lot of assets in player wise imo

I'm sure the figures will be similar for 24/25 because we still had Cook's £30k pw wages on the books and Richards's £12.5k pw. Colback was on bug wages and we paid the thick end of £6m for Celar and Madsen. Wasnt it Dec 24 when the Bathia's sponsored the stand to keep us the right side of FFP. We'll know in Feb26 when the accounts get released.

The 25/26 season will be different because we've brought in £13m in transfer fees with the buying side being much less up front.

Looking like we might have little choice but to swallow the £13 million loss again this season just to have a chance of staying in the Championship. I fear relegation will do a lot more damage financially, in league one we will be hearing that it is no longer financially viable to remain at Loftus Road, then what? Ground share with someone like AFC Wimbledon? Although that would be handy for me personally as I can walk to that stadium in 20 mins

Well Im sure we would have put Dunne onto the £30k that Cook is on. We've also brought in Dembele, Poku, Kone and Burrell on fees. Surely if Chair goes that would be spent on Saito. I have no idea whether we'll break even for 25/26 but very much doubt we will with additional players needed to support these young pups. But still, nice to see £13m coming in

Based on the plan I'd say those young pups are the team. I still think they were all decent purchases (as was Mbengue) but as prospects to take over the lead role should the incumbents suffer injury, loss of form or some other issue. The problem is that we don't really have many incumbents other than Field (incredible sudden loss of ability), Cook (gone and should've been recognised as that last season), Frey & JCS (too often crocked), Dunne, Nardi & Chair.

As has been pointed out elsewhere, you can't play a whole team of prospects in this league. On the other hand I can't see us buying anyone who isn't a prospect.

"Want some baskets for those eggs, sir?"

            "Just the one, please."

Strikes me it's a question of balance.

OK, I'll go along with a business model of buying 'em young, cheap and with potential. Developing them, and then selling them on for good money.

              Repeat cycle.

But that has to be balanced with good pros at this level capable of keeping the team comfortably up the table.

The model won't be sustainable if we're constantly bumping along the bottom of the league, or worse relegated because we'll have little to attract the raw material young cheap with potential youngsters to develop.

I wouldnt be at all suprised to see £10-15m coming in next season. But it needs the likes of Varane, Morgan and Kone to have very good seasons. I think we turned down €5m for Varane recently, so with a good season surely £8m next summer will see him off.
